Recently, the one-stop medical furniture solution created by ZHOBAI for a private cardiac specialist hospital in a South American country was successfully launched. The South American private cardiac specialist hospital is positioned as high-end, focusing on cardiac diagnosis and treatment and rehabilitation services, and has extremely strict requirements for medical furniture: it must not only meet international medical-grade standards, the materials must have excellent antibacterial, corrosion-resistant, and anti-static properties, but also adapt to the sterile diagnosis and treatment environment; at the same time, the furniture design must be simple and elegant, fitting the high-end positioning of the hospital; in addition, the hospital hopes to improve diagnosis and treatment efficiency and optimize the patient’s medical experience through reasonable furniture planning.

In the initial stage of the project, the core difficulty faced by the hospital was the “disconnection between material selection and design planning”. The previous suppliers either met the material requirements but had unreasonable designs, or had beautiful designs but the materials failed to meet the sterile standards, and could not achieve the balance of “material, design, and function”. At the same time, the hospital was unclear about what materials and sizes of furniture to use in different areas such as ICUs, diagnosis and treatment rooms, and rehabilitation areas, and worried that unreasonable planning would affect the diagnosis and treatment process.

In response to these needs, ZHOBAI set up a special team consisting of material experts, senior design planners, and cardiac medical industry consultants to dock the project throughout the process: first, combined with the sterile needs of the cardiac specialist hospital, the material experts compared a variety of high-end materials, and finally determined that the core areas adopt medical-grade antibacterial PEEK materials and food-grade stainless steel materials—antibacterial PEEK materials have excellent biocompatibility, an antibacterial rate of 99.9%, no odor, no formaldehyde release, and are suitable for sterile areas such as ICUs and diagnosis and treatment rooms; food-grade stainless steel materials are corrosion-resistant and anti-static, used for nurse trolleys, medical trolleys, and instrument cabinets, which can withstand high-frequency disinfection and avoid static interference with the operation of medical equipment.

In terms of design and planning, our design team was stationed on site throughout the process, optimizing the furniture layout combined with the cardiac diagnosis and treatment process: in the ICU area, customized sterile hospital beds were adopted, with adjustable height guardrails designed at the head of the beds, reserved cardiac monitoring equipment interfaces, and the spacing between hospital beds was controlled at 2 meters to ensure sufficient operation space for medical staff; the diagnosis and treatment rooms were equipped with simple and elegant medical panel diagnosis and treatment tables and medical cabinets, and the medical cabinets adopted seamless welding technology to eliminate hygiene dead corners and adapt to the needs of sterile disinfection; the rehabilitation area adopted soft and comfortable customized rehabilitation chairs, sofas, and simple waiting chairs, with warm color design to alleviate patients’ anxiety after surgery; at the same time, the position of the nurse station was reasonably planned to allow nurse trolleys and medical trolleys to shuttle through various areas quickly, improving diagnosis and treatment efficiency.

In terms of craftsmanship, we activated high-end medical furniture production processes: all furniture welding adopted robotic seamless welding technology, with flat and smooth welds to avoid bacteria remaining in gaps; spraying adopted electrostatic powder spraying technology, using high-end medical-grade environmentally friendly powder, which has strong adhesion and scratch resistance, and also has anti-static and corrosion-resistant properties; bending technology adopted numerically controlled precision bending equipment, with an error controlled within ±0.3mm, ensuring the precise size of nurse stations, medical cabinets and other furniture, adapting to the hospital space layout.

Throughout the process, we successively issued 4 versions of 3D renderings , detailing the color of furniture, the style of hardware accessories, and the gloss of the coating, and repeatedly communicated and adjusted with the hospital. We even invited cardiologists from the hospital to put forward modification suggestions to ensure that the furniture adapts to their operating habits. After the production was completed, we arranged the maritime transportation, customs clearance, installation and commissioning in an overall manner, tracked the progress throughout the process to ensure zero damage and on-time landing of the products. After the installation was completed, we also arranged technical personnel to provide training on furniture use and daily maintenance for the hospital’s medical staff and logistics personnel.
